Ironman Western Australia: Sunday 4th December 2011.

The Ironman Western Australia enters it's 8th year in Busselton in 2011, and it is an exciting time for the event.
Since 2010, World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) have owned and operated Ironman Western Australia, this bought dramatic changes and innovations to the race, further cementing Ironman Western Australia's reputation as one of the premier Ironman races on the International calendar.
Through WTC's national and local initiatives, their intention is to bring an unparalled level of sophistication to the event across it's operations, marketing, production and delivery, coverage and commercial appeal. WTC have set the challenge of establishing Ironman Western Australia as one of the nation's iconic sporting event.
The event to be held on Sunday the 4th December 2011 consists on a 3.8klm Swim Leg around the iconic Busselton Jetty, followed by a gruelling 180.2 klm bike ride through the beautiful Tuart Forest and back twice into the town site, then if that's not enough, a testing full marathon run of 42.2 klm along the beautiful foreshore and into the CBD.
A total of 1600 competitors will contest Ironman Western Australia 2011.
Television distribution arrangements with ESPN, Universal Sports and domestic television partners will bring unprecedented coverage for the event in 2011.
A total of 1500 Volunteers will be required to register for the event, with positions available on Drink Stations on both the Run Leg and the Bike Course, Transition, Bike Catchers, Registration of athletes, Medical, Finish Line, Massage, Communications, Timing & IT, Bike Course Marshals, Run Course Marshals.
